Helping veterans navigate issues affecting their lives is a top priority of the Austin Bar Association’s Veterans Legal Assistance Program. The service provides much needed assistance to veterans free of charge! How? Thanks to licensed attorneys like Laura Fowler. Fowler and other legal professionals work with the program pro bono.
From the legal issues to accessing shelter and more, the program aims to give veterans the information they need in various aspects of life. Program Director Doug Lawrence works tirelessly to garner support from attorneys for clinics and other events geared toward helping veterans each month.
During this event, Lawrence and Fowler had the enviable task of assisting a veteran client and keeping an eye on this four-legged attendee, Jax, the service dog. The client was both thankful and impressed with services rendered. Jax, however, was unimpressed and fell asleep. It seems he felt the service left much to be desired…like doggy treats.
