The recent luncheon honoring accomplished attorney David Davis for his work on behalf of the Championship Hearts Foundation left everyone in the room with a full heart. The organization provides free heart screenings to all athletes, band members, spirit groups and students age 14-18 in Texas. The screenings prevent deaths from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, also known as HCM - a serious heart condition that affects approximately 1 in 500 student athletes and the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes.
The organization has provided more than 27,000 free heart screenings to Texas students. Volunteers are at the heart of this wonderful organization. The work and support of people like David Davis helps to ensure Texas families avoid unnecessary tragedy due to this fatal condition. Davis was recently honored at the Foundation's annual Heartbeats & Heroes gala luncheon.
